what degrees would i need? and from what schools, also if anybody is a commercial pilot here, how are the shifts like? how many hours and how much time you get to spend at home?

I cannot get the pilot lit on my gas water heater. it is the type that you remove outer door, set temp to low, set dial to pilot, press pilot button and press striker. I see spark in the little window but it will not light. I do not smell any gas (maybe due to inner door). my Q is can I remove the inner door and light it the old fashion way?

I will have my associates degree in aeronautics and comercial pilots license, plus i am joining rotc at cal state san bernardino, and getting by bachelor in buisness. If i am a army army officer through rotc at the end of my 4 year degree, what are the chances of me becoming a pilot?
