I cannot get the pilot lit on my gas water heater. it is the type that you remove outer door, set temp to low, set dial to pilot, press pilot button and press striker. I see spark in the little window but it will not light. I do not smell any gas (maybe due to inner door). my Q is can I remove the inner door and light it the old fashion way?

Alright, I have been trying to find a diagram of where my pilot is on my Williams wall heater model 2509622. I have read the directions but I am not sure what the pilot is. I am so frustrated and feel completely idiotic! Can anyone help me?

It happens almost daily since we started running the air conditioner a few weeks ago. We did not have this problem with our old water heater. Every morning when we want to shower the pilot light is out and the water cold. I try to remember to check a few times during the day. This can’t be normal, there must be something we can do ….

I am very paranoid about having gas leaks. Recently, I was doing some cleaning and I smelled just the slightest gas odor when I put my nose about 5 centimeteres from the pilot light area of my gas water heater. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to smell anything at all. Since the pilot light is igniting the gas at that sight, would that be normal and should I be concerned? Thanks.

It took us a bit of trial and error to discover this, but the pilot light will stay lit forever…as long as we don’t use the water. The second water is pulled from the tank, the pilot light goes out, even if the burner is on full blast.
Even when the burner is lit and firing away at full blast, using the water will extinguish the entire flame.

I noticed the heater was out this morning and tried to relight and couldn’t. Pulled out the burner assembly and found that the pilot tube was broken. I’d rather not have to call the utility company but I don’t know where I can find a replacement pilot tube. Do I have to order one from the manufacturer? Can I find one at a local home improvement store? Internet site?

A friend’s pilot light went out and the gas company sent someone to relight it. They said not to worry anout the odor, it wasn’t the gas. Was this a dangerous thing to relight the pilot with the odor in the house ? Please explain.

The gas furnace is about 30-35 years old. I know what you’re going to say……………, but it’s working fine. I just would like to save some money, as to not have the pilot light run all the time.
