Do I need to turn off the pilot light off in a gas-fireplace in Summer?

I have a gas fireplace (Heat-N-Glo) in master bedroom. This fireplace has a switch on the wall just like a regular switch for any house lights. The pilot seems a lot bigger than the one seen in gas stove.

I am just wondering if it is needed to turn the pilot light off in the summer. If it is good to do, who can do it? If I can do it, how?

im looking for a pilot jacket with gold stripes .but I cant find any I had a look on the trans air pilot shop but they didnt have the kind im looking for .the ones im looking for is the ones that easy jet or ryanair wear over the shirts i want to suprise my boyfriend he needs a bigger one :)
